First of all, religious branch of the church matters. Protestant church holds wedding ceremony for non-Christians. In order to get married in Catholic Church, the couple must be baptized Christians or at least one must be a Catholic. Also the color of carpet in Protestant Church and Catholic Church are also different. Protestant church uses white color and Catholic Church uses either red or green. These are very interesting.

Nevertheless, in Japan, many of the western wedding ceremonies are held in small chapels in hotels or wedding venues. These venues are built especially for wedding ceremony and usually put no restriction on religious background.

To sum up, it is better to do more research before choosing your wedding venue. Some churches are forbidden to use flower petals. You can avoid unnecessary embarrassment if you check thoroughly beforehand.
